Because 2020 is THE year of vision, as well as our 80th year in business, we wanted to celebrate World Sight Day in a big way. Because of YOU, our partners, and our team members, World Sight Day 2020 was a huge success!
With all the likes on the Indianapolis Monthly Instagram post, we are donating $209 to the Essilor Vision Foundation! The Essilor Vision Foundation is an organization that provides free eye exams and glasses to the 1 in 4 kids who have a vision problem that affects their ability to learn.
To make an immediate impact on our local community, we gave each member of #TeamTavel a certificate for free eyewear to give to someone in need of vision correction. Our team members are truly on the frontlines of our business and we couldn’t succeed in providing excellent vision care without them! We aim to make eye care accessible for all, and gifting 20/20 vision is one way we can continue to make good on our commitment.
We heard so many touching stories from our team and who they chose to donate these certificates to. Our Director of Operations, Jay Dalton shares his free time as a coach for the Southport Youth Football team and asked the players to choose who needed the gift of sight. They chose their other coach John Scanlon, who was wearing weathered, taped-up glasses. What a cool story!
We announced a two-year eye care partnership with local education and mentoring non-profit Elevate Indianapolis! Dr. Tavel will provide free vision screenings for all Indianapolis Public School students who participate in Elevate Indianapolis’ programming through 2022, as well as up to 200 free comprehensive eye exams and a free, complete pair of glasses for those students in need of correction. We teamed up with some amazing women to help us in our mission to spread awareness about preventable blindness and vision health.
