Eyes On Camping: Day 2

Sep 18, 2010

{{{image-468}}}Day 2

Sunday started off with my wife napping in the truck, and the men gathering more wood to start a fire to cook breakfast (as well as stay warm).  Disposable premium contact lenses are ideal for camping and “roughing” it outdoors as in the morning they are easy to change and just throw away.  We got ready for the day outdoors!

Our friend cooked a huge breakfast, which he said we would need for the days activities he had planned. So after breakfast we jumped in the back of the pickup and drove to the hiking trails. The weather was not only perfect for camping, but hiking as well.  Wearing sunglasses to protect our eyes, we hiked away!  I think there were a total of eight trails, and we chose two of them. The scenery was absolutely beautiful!

After hiking we went canoeing. It was a 3-mile distance that had to be completed in 2 hours. The other couple had it down pat, while my wife and I struggled to keep the canoe straight.  Thirty-minutes later, after my wife lost her sunglasses in the lake, we figured out how to work as a team and maneuver our canoe. We finally made it to our pick up spot, returned our canoe and life jackets and headed back to the camp sight. Since my wife wasn’t sleeping in the tent another night, I knew that after dinner it was back on the road home to Indianapolis.

We all had a great time and experience at Turkey Run (besides the tent noises). I could see us doing it again in the future, only renting a cabin instead of a tent.  I would highly suggest it to others!
