Food…I love it!  I’d consider myself and my roommate “foodies” for we love making new dishes, trying new restaurants, and watching the Food Network for new ideas.  My roommate and I have a cook book library and since moving in this past summer we have prepared each other and friends all kinds of meals.  We are also “healthnuts” as we watch what we eat, exercise 5-6 days a week, and tend to prepare only health-conscious meals erring on the side of vegetarian or with mostly white meat like chicken.

Organic is often a word we throw around as we go grocery shopping or as our produce is delivered to our home via Green BEAN Delivery.  Besides being very conscious of what we are putting into our bodies for maintaining healthy weights, we are beginning to be aware of what kinds of specific benefits certain foods can have on our bodies.  As I am focusing on the world of optical health and vision here at Dr. Tavel, the first section of foods we are ensuring to include in our diets are those that help our vision!

Vision friendly foods are often suggested by the best eye doctors to patients who ask for ways to improve their vision or prevent vision loss.  Foods that are vision friendly?  Carrots and anything full of Vitamin C like citrus fruits and yellow vegetables are a good start for foods that will help eye sight.   For the next couple of weeks I will  share recipes or tips for meals that are vision friendly here on the Dr. Tavel Vision Blog.  My roommate and I are taking the Dr. Tavel Eye Healthy Food Challenge to prepare and eat foods inserted with eye healthy vegetables and spices this fall.  You should too!

We are getting ideas from the following articles: Diet and Nutrition Tips for Optimal Eye Health and Protect your eyes with these foods

Eat up for eye health!
