We did it!  The rain didn’t stop Team Tavel or the other teams walking in the 4th Annual Indianapolis VisionWalk Saturday.  Hundreds of walkers gathered to walk around the picturesque campus of Butler University to help raise funds to cure retinal degenerative diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and Stargardt’s disease.

Over $35,000 was raised by walkers and supporters for this year’s walk hosted by Foundation Fighting Blindness.  Our team, Dr. Tavel Family Eye Care, was proud to be walking with a team with eye care employees and eye care doctors in honor of Dr. Tavel patients with retinal degenerative diseases.  Together with patients and with the support of our family and friends we raised over $850 for this year’s walk!

With the grey and overcast conditions, Dr. Tavel team members still managed to have lots of fun as we posed in our Purifier polarized aviator sunglasses to cover our eyes and to help us see while walking on the course.  Wearing sunglasses even on a grey day helps protect the eyes from harmful UV-rays omitted even when the sun isn’t directly out.  And the aviator style is in and fits most face shapes as you can see within our team.

Our sunglasses soon went off though and our umbrellas up as the rain picked up and soaked the course.  Although we ended up a bit soggy, our spirits were high as we walked to help find ‘a cure in sight’ for so many of those affected by retinal degenerative diseases.

Thanks to those who supported and donated to Team Tavel!
