I went to what is supposedly called the “Yellowstone” of Indiana a few weekends ago with friends to go hiking.  Shades State Park is outside of Crawfordsville and is a beautiful park full of hiking trails and camp sites.  Many of the trials are called “rugged” where you make your own way quite literally through the terrain.  It was a cool crisp day (perfect for hiking) with not too much sun but of course I wore my sunglasses.  I was the only one in my group of six to wear sunglasses.

Why be the odd one out?  To protect my eyes of course!  Even on cloudy days harmful UV rays exist and can damage our eyes ultimately hurting our vision.  Although wearing sunglasses doesn’t seem important when it is grey outside this couldn’t be farthest from the truth.  All year long our eyes are at risk for UV damage which Healthnewsdigest.com discusses in the article “Protect Your Eyes From Ultraviolet Rays Year-Round.”

Healthnewsdigest.com is right on with the need for protection all year long as eye care doctors like Dr. Tavel and his board certified associates agree and always tell their patients about the importance of protecting their eyes with sunglasses and other types of eye wear.  So while hiking in the beautiful woods and appreciating nature at its finest, I also appreciated my eye wear for helping to keep my eyes healthy.  I want to keep my eyes healthy in the future and I want my friends to do the same so I made sure I told them about the importance of sungear (sunglasses and even hats) all year long.

Indiana has many beautiful parks and sights to see and I simply want to make sure my eyes are healthy to see them all!  Protect your eyes with me and wear sunglasses all year long even on the grey days.  Tell your friends to wear sungear all year!
