The holiday season features many gatherings with family and friends often accompanied by lots of food!

As I strolled through the grocery aisles, I noticed some great deals on all kinds of nonperishable food items, so I grabbed some great deals for my holiday parties and some extra for the Dr. Tavel Holiday Food Drive

Dr. Tavel Family Eye Care is teaming up with the United Way to help Hoosiers in need this holiday season. All 20 Dr. Tavel locations are drop-off sites for nonperishable food items. The donations collected from each location with benefit a United Way approved organization in that community.

Stop by your local Dr. Tavel office and donate nonperishable food items like baby food, canned fruit, cereal, boxed meals and canned meat. The drive continues through December 15.

I suggest grabbing items for some of your favorite holiday recipes. One of my favorite holiday traditions is baking and decorating sugar cookies. I think I’ll donate a cookie mix, frosting and sprinkles.

So when you’re out and about doing your holiday grocery shopping, grab some extra food to help your fellow Hoosiers in need. You can make a difference!
