I am an identical twin so for most of my life growing up there were always jokes when Blaire (my twin) and I would walk into a room about “seeing double” or better yet being “double trouble.”  Although Blaire and I used to look a lot alike so as to appear to give you double vision (hair dye makes us a bit different now!), seeing double is an actual vision problem some of us can suffer from.

Double vision is a condition where your eyes don’t work together or in sync and two images are transmitted to the brain.  Indiana eye doctors like Dr. Tavel and his board certified associates take double vision seriously as continual symptoms can mean a serious disease or underlying issue such as stroke, tumor or brain aneurysm.

Double vision can occur for other reasons too such as from excessive intake of alcohol, being overly tired, having extremely dry eyes or corneal irregularities.  As 3D makes its way into more movie theatres and homes, our eyes and vision will be challenged too in the future, not just from seeing double.

Indianapolis eye doctors suggest being vigilant when symptoms do occur and encourage those with severe symptoms to visit an eye doctor immediately.  Check out this video about double vision, what it looks like, and what to do if you have it.  Seeing double could mean trouble!
