Do you sit in front of a computer for most of the day?  Do you complete intermediate work with your eyes like sewing, playing music, building, or other hobbies?  Do your eyes get tired, dry, or do they feel strained after long periods of up-close work or extra screen time?  Ever get headaches?

Many of us get tired eyes after long periods of intermediate work or excessive screen time.  Computer Vision Syndrome is increasingly affecting American’s as more and more screen time is logged and our eyes are feeling the effects.  Defined as tired and strained eyes from long periods of screen time, Computer Vision Syndrome is said to affect 50-90% of computer workers according to Dr. Larry Wan of Allaboutvision.com.  It can have negative effects besides the physical eye strain like lower work productivity and more work errors.

Solutions to fix strain and tired eyes can be as simple as taking more conscious “eye” breaks during the day, changing the display or brightness of your computer screen or more in depth like getting a comprehensive eye examination, or getting a second pair of glasses specific for computer work.

A pair of glasses with specific computer or intermediate lenses can help our eyes focus together on the work in front of us and then not get so tired.  They can literally “do the work” for the eye muscles as they help the eyes focus inwardly on the material and not get strained.  A second pair of glasses is ideal to update your look but also in this case to help your eyes focus on the computer or immediate work in front of you.
