This Thanksgiving I traveled home to Ohio to spend the holiday with my family.  As my sister and I got ready for Thanksgiving dinner, we chit chatted like we used to growing up as we put on our make-up and straightened our hair.  As we shared counter space and stories of things going on in our lives, my sister made a comment about how she couldn’t see very well out of one of her eyes as she put on eye shadow.  She was trying ...

She was trying to focus with just one of her eyes and this made her vision difficult.

I being the know-it-all sister and now knowing better being in the optical industry told her about the importance of getting an eye examination each year and how our vision can change especially when we are younger.  It is a symptom such as this that tells you it is time to have an eye care doctor perform an eye examination.  Nearsightedness is one of the most common vision impairments Indianapolis and Indiana eye doctors like Dr. Tavel and his board certified associates see in patients especially school-age and college students.  My sister’s troubles seeing may be something like farsightedness, another common problem.

My sister already wears reading glasses but with this new vision development she may need to buy eye glasses to allow her to see all of the time like when putting on make-up.  Getting an eye examination may not be on your radar to do every year but it ideally should be to ensure you have clear vision as well as healthy eyes.  This is now on my sister’s radar as she wants healthy eyes and clear vision.  And these are things to be thankful for!
