A child’s vision is crucial to their success in the classroom. Dr. Tavel understands the importance of routine eye exams to detect vision problems that may interfere with their development. But Dr. Tavel wants your kids to have more than just healthy vision. Your Indiana eye care doctor wants to make sure all students have the tools they need to excel in the classroom. That’s why, again this year, Dr. Tavel is joining the BackPack Attack school supply drive.

Since 1999, BackPack Attack has collected more than 2.8 million school supplies for children in the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) as well as other schools in Marion, Boone, Hancock and Hendricks counties. BackPack Attack supports the 83% of families in the IPS school system who can’t afford the basic school supplies that their children need.

To contribute to the BackPack Attack drive, pick up these items:

  • Backpacks
  • Pencil sharpeners
  • Spiral notebooks
  • Erasers (pink)
  • Calculators
  • Rulers (12 inch)
  • Crayons (24 count)
  • Art boxes
  • Scissors (safety tip)
  • Markers  (8 count)
  • Alarm clocks
  • Ink pens (blue or black)
  • Pencils (#2)
  • Colored pencils (12 count)
  • Pocket folders
  • Glue sticks
  • Notebook paper

Donations are being accepted at the following Dr. Tavel locations through July 15: Fishers, Greenwood, Pyramid Place and Zionsville.

When you visit Dr. Tavel Family Eye Care for your family’s vision needs, bring in some school supplies to donate to the BackPack Attack drive!
