Transitions®: New Advances in Everyday Lenses

Transitions Optical, Inc. has created the first and only everyday photochromic lenses with variable polarization!

Transitions® Vantage™ lenses, available at Dr. Tavel, are the newest addition to the Transitions® line of adaptive lenses. They are the first and only lenses designed to both darken and polarize upon UV exposure. They start out virtually clear, but once outdoors they not only adapt to changing light but also increase polarization as they darken. This is a new technology that is different than current photochromics and polarization. The photochromic dyes in Transitions® Vantage™ lenses not only darken, but also align to create polarization. When combined with AR coating, Transitions® Vantage™ lenses become the only everyday lenses available that help to manage all four types of glare.

This lens joins a collection of other everyday Transitions® lenses including the Original Transitions® and Transitions® XTRActive™ lenses.

Original Transitions® lenses are clear when indoors and at night. They conveniently darken in either gray or brown activated color options and adapt to light outdoors to block 100% of the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays. Original Transitions lenses offer the widest variety of lens designs and materials and have a distinct advantage over ordinary clear lenses.

Transitions® XTRActive™ lenses are the darkest everyday lens, even in hot temperatures. They quickly adjust to the darkness of traditional sunglasses in full sun. Transitions® XTRActive™ lenses are the first everyday lenses that provide a moderate tint behind the windshield of a car.
