Joshua Griffith, OD

Meet Dr. Griffith

Dr. Joshua Griffith began his career as an optometrist in 2024 and has been practicing at Dr. Tavel since 2025. He earned his BS in Biomedical Science from Morehead State University and his Doctor of Optometry from University of Pikeville: Kentucky College of Optometry. He specializes in pediatric care and binocular vision dysfunction.

When asked why he enjoys working at Dr. Tavel, Dr. Griffith said, “I appreciate being part of Dr. Tavel Family Eye Care because it fosters a culture of patient-centered care and professional growth. The practice’s commitment to accessible, high-quality eye care aligns with my passion for helping patients of all ages achieve their best vision.”

In his free time, Dr. Griffith is avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, and hiking. When indoors, reading is his go-to hobby, especially classic literature—think high school book report material—and the Bible. He is currently finishing the Old Testament as part of his goal to read the entire Bible cover to cover.

Pediatric care

Binocular vision dysfunction

As an optometrist, I believe pediatric eye care is essential because early vision plays a critical role in a child’s development, learning, and quality of life. Undetected vision problems can hinder academic performance, social interaction, and self-confidence. By identifying and treating issues early, we can help ensure children have the visual foundation they need to succeed. I’m committed to providing thorough, compassionate care and educating families about the importance of regular eye exams, so that no child is limited by preventable or correctable vision problems.
