Baseball and Sunglasses

With the opening day for major league baseball last Sunday, and today being the opening day for the Indianapolis Indians, I asked James Sharp in our Marketing department to write about his experience playing baseball and the role sunglasses played in his experience.

“Having played baseball for almost two-thirds of my life brings me to the understanding of how important sunglasses are while participating in sports. Going out to the ballpark for a double header, I never left the house without my pair of polarized sunglasses. Playing in many games with the sunlight directly in my eyes causes a real hazard for my eye health as well as my success in making crucial plays on the field. Having a pair of sunglasses readily available, allowed me to prove successful in my time playing the game.

Even in the major leagues, baseball sunglasses are sunglasses players wear to help reduce the glare of the sun when they have to look up to see the ball. Baseball sunglasses also need to have certain characteristics and quality suitable for the game they play. Since baseball is a sport played during the hot summer season, this is one quality that has to be included in the design of the sunglasses.
