One thing is certain, failing an eye exam will determine whether you will be a candidate for some hot new specs or that new contact lens wearer. Whether you pass or fail, an annual eye exam is the best practice for good overall eye health. But what if you could predetermine your “optical destiny” but just looking at one picture?

According to Daily Mail, students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology created an optical illusion that could also determine vision impairment. Basically, if you see Marilyn Monroe in the picture from a reasonable distance (about a foot away), you need glasses.

If you see Albert Einstein in the image then your vision is good.

ASAP Science explained the illusion, saying:

“Depending on how well you’re able to focus or pick up contrast, your eye will only pick out details. Up close, we’re generally able to pick up fine details like Einstein’s moustache and wrinkles. But as the distance increases, or if your vision is poor and creates a more blurred image in the first place, your ability to pick up details fades away.”

Now this by no means should replace your eye exam, but it’s a good place to start?
