Team Tavel Walks For ‘A Cure In Sight’

This Saturday hundreds will be walking to find ‘a cure in sight’ on Butler University’s campus for Foundation Fighting Blindness’ (FFB) VisionWalk.  Know anyone with a retinal degenerative disease?  It is likely that you do as 10 million American’s are affected by diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), Usher Syndrome, and Stargardt’s disease among other vision diseases.  I am walking with Team Dr. Tavel Family Eye Care in honor of my grandfather who has AMD and for Dr. Tavel patients with retinal degenerative diseases.

VisionWalk is a 5K walk to which teams and walker’s raise funds to benefit FFB’s efforts in research, prevention, treatment, and cures for retinal degenerative diseases.  The fundraising goal for the Indianapolis VisionWalk is $70,000 roughly $10,000 more than last year’s earnings and Team Tavel hopes to raise close to $2,000 to help FFB meet their goal.

I am excited to walk with others who are passionate about finding a cure for diseases like AMD and Stargardt’s disease.  Anyone can be affected by vision loss and many of us know of someone with a retinal degenerative disease or other vision ailment.  By walking on Saturday and raising funds for FFB, we are one step closer to truly finding ‘a cure in sight!’
